Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-20
Overview
This privacy policy applies to Americano (“the app”), a macOS menu bar utility developed by YuQing Jiang. It explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information the App Collects
Americano does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
Data Stored on Your Device
Your settings — durations, battery thresholds, and other preferences — are stored locally in macOS user defaults and never leave your Mac. Deleting the app removes the app itself; the settings stay behind in macOS user defaults and can be removed by running defaults delete io.lzhlovesjyq.Americano in Terminal.
Network Access
- Mac App Store version: runs in the App Sandbox with no network entitlement — it cannot make network connections at all.
- Direct-download version (GitHub / Homebrew): periodically checks an update feed hosted on GitHub via the Sparkle framework. This request carries no personal information; basic non-identifying details such as your macOS version may be included to determine update compatibility, and it is subject to GitHub’s privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
The app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. Downloading the app through the Mac App Store is subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
